There are many ways to get to Kalpitiya from Negombo. We did it using a combination of the train and a tuk tuk. Perfect! Tuktuks and the 3rd class train cars have open windows! And go slow enough to appreciate the landscape.
Kitelantis is named this way because Kalpitiya is a kitesurfing destination. At this little resort, we stayed in a tent. That might seem like a bad idea in a country with lots of creepy crawlies. But this was a very nice big new tent with night tables, cute lights, a very useful fan, and even USB outlets! It sat on a well designed platform with handsome chairs.
The place was really pretty. And chill. A vacation within our vacation!

1- The tents and little cabanas at Kitelantis are set within a coconut plantation. A neat way to use the land.
2- The inside of our tent was really spacious. The night tables, lights, and cute pillows were a nice touch.
3- Our resort was located on Kalpitiya lagoon. Which is very large, shallow, and beautiful.
4 - The lagoon is used by fishermen. Who pole their way through the water to lay out and pick up their nets. On the whole, this type of fishing seems very sustainable to me.
5- The dining space was very pretty and open. Sadly, also full of mosquitoes at night. My legs are soooooo itchy!
6- The pool was pretty and much appreciated because the water n our part of the lagoon was not inviting for swimming.
This is a great inspiring article.I am pretty much pleased with your good work. You put really very helpful information...
