Yesterday, was my travel day from Tulum to Cozumel. I'm super glad to say it went very well!
To get here, I had to take a bus from Tulum to Playa del Carmen, a ferry from Playa to Cozumel, then a taxi from the ferry terminal to my apartment at Casa Mandarina. The ADO (like Greyhound) buses make that run about every hour. The ferries run about every 30 minutes. So I could have left Tulum pretty much at any time in the day.
I am soooo glad I chose to make my trip fairly early in the day!!
Wind and waves are always a concern for me during the ferry crossing. I get seasick pretty easily. When I was on the ferry the sea was calm. The ride was pleasant. I was able to enjoy the band playing at the front of the boat.
But about 30 minutes after I checked into my apartment, the weather changed fairly dramatically. The wind howled, and it rained hard. For about 2 hours! That would have made the ferry ride a whole different experience. And waiting for the taxi at the terminal, a very soggy and chilly affair.
It didn't rain today. But it was chilly (sweater required with skirt and sandals...) and the wind continued to be strong, with gusts up to 50km/hour. But I didn't care. It was awesome for walking on the waterfront with Barbara and her dog Loki and shopping for food/supplies. My main activities today.
Pictures
1) A tree decorated with corazons (hearts) on the hi way between Tulum and Playa. Hearts are very common religious folk art symbols in Mexico. They represent the physical heart of Jesus, a symbol of his divine love for humanity.

3) The washroom at the ADO bus station in Tulum. It's common to have to pay to pee. But this is the 1st turnstile I've seen!
4)My first visit to/picture of the ocean!!
