You may recall, El Bungalow is located right on the water in the north end of the city. It's a modest but lovely place. You could sit upstairs on a large covered balcony. There were pretty coloured table cloths and a pleasant attention to detail. Or you could sit at the plastic tables below, with your feet in the sand. Or hang from a hamac in the shade.
Today was the last day for El Bungalow. And another place called Shaka, located just a little further north on the same beach. There are a couple of stories about why they're closing.
The most hopeful is that newer restaurants will be built. I could live with that. The buildings are a little rudimentary. The most yucky story is that the government gave the land to the church and the church has sold it to a developer. And another big hotel will exist on the waterfront. Keeping locals and visitors with modest means from their own ocean.

2- Some folks I talked to about the closing today. All are very sad. On the right is the waiter I've had most times that I was there, Ventura. Luckily, he already has another job lined up.
4 - I was taking a picture of this cute bike. Another waiter I had / talked to today, photobombed my picture. I had to include it. He was very matter of fact about the closure. And said see you in our next life. Sweet. Comforting in a way.
5 - One of about 400 pictures of pelicans feeding that I took at El Bungalow. Will they lose their feeding ground too?
