Dona Lety is a hairdresser in my neighbourhood. I first went to her three years ago. She's kind and fun! She cuts my hair pretty much the way I ask her to. Also. She only charges 60 pesos for a cut. About $4 Canadian, $7 with a big tip. Many reasons for going back.
When I walked in, she said she'd been wondering if I'd come this year. It's possible that she remembers me. I don't think she serves many gringas. And likely fewer gringas with a funky green bicycle (she always tells me to bring it into her shop), who can speak Spanish.
This year, I didn't have to look up the words for curly, straight, layers, and bangs. I remembered them from last year! I was pretty proud of myself!
Our topic of conversation today. Her awesome crafts! She painted vines, bamboo, and a whole tree on the walls of her shop. She also showed me a bunch of pretty things she's made from recyclables / waste. Very cool!

1 - Dona Lety and her "pistol" - hair dryer.
2- Dona Lety posing with the tree she painted on her wall. She plans on continuing it on the ceiling.
3 - There are paper butterflies in the tree. You have to look carefully to see them. She told me they're made out of grocery store flyers. She pointed to the Bimbo logo. I told her what it means in English. She thought it was funny!
4 and 5 - Dona Lety made the mirror and flowers from a variety of waste materials. Very well done!
