Tequila Beach to the rescue!

Yesterday, I learned that I can't go to my (old) favourite beach anymore.  Boo.... Today, I went to a lovely new place.  Yay!

For the last 3 years, my favourite place for swimming and yoga has been Hotel Cozumel's beach.  They have a great / safe access into the ocean, sand (aka a soft yoga surface), chairs, and palm trees for shade. They were OK with non-hotel guests using their beach / chairs, as long as we bought a beverage or two each time we went.  It's only a 10 minute walk from my apartment.  Perfect!!

But the owner died this year.  His kids, who now operate the hotel, changed the rules.  I could still go, but I'd have to buy a day pass for $40/US each day ($20 if I go after 2pm).  It would give me unlimited drinks and food.  But that's a lot of money for stuff I don't want.

So today, I went with friends to a "new to me" beach called Tequila.  The name might suggest a wild party place.  But not at all.  It's very pretty and quiet.  With an awesome beach.  The cover charge is $180 pesos (about $12 Canadian) per day.  But that gives you that amount in food and beverages.  It's still more than I wanna pay each day for a swim.  But it'll be great for at least sometimes.  And I might be able to access the beach just beside it for free...And the 4km bike ride to get there will be good exercise.  So it's a great new find!!

Pictures
1 and 2 - The "upstairs restaurant" part of the Tequila beach club.  The waiters were super nice and kept moving the umbrellas to shade us.
3 - There's a small infinity pool for those who don't like the ocean
4 -  The pier is kinda nice for people to jump from.  Locals were fishing from it.
5 - I stayed until almost sunset.  It was so pretty!
