Adventures at the hair dresser

My hair was starting to get too long and I was feeling a little daring.
The result, a whole new look!

There are a few hair dressers in my neighbourhood, Corpus Christi.  They're fairly upscale because they cater to the expats and richer Mexicans who live around here.  They're also relatively expensive at about $30 for a cut.

Since I like to be frugal when I can, and I like a challenge, I asked Sylvia where she gets her hair cut. You may recall, she's the Mexican girlfriend of the owner of the villa I'm in.  Sylvia marked the place on my map, deep in the "hood" and told me the cost should be 50 pesos.  About $5 Canadian.

The place looked promising.  When I first cycled past there were no clients in the "1 chair" shop.  But I noticed that the place was neat and tidy and the hairdresser was cleaning the floor.  That seemed like a good sign.

When I went in, I told the hairdresser all I wanted was a trim.  About 1/2" off everywhere.  Same style.  She was very nice and seemed to understand.  But something got lost in translation....I now have fairly short hair!  No need for elastics for a while....But I kinda like it.  And I can always let it grow back...

Pictures
1 -My new hair cut!  About 3" shorter than before!
2-Some brand names don't translate so well.  Bimbo is a popular bread / packaged baked good brand.  Cute bear though.
3 - I love all the small stores around town!  Especially the ones with pens and cute notebooks and things with fun colours!  And cute dogs too.
