Little shops everywhere!

I think it's so interesting to look at the stores here.  There's every size and kind.

In some ways, the stores here are much like at home.  There's a big grocery store, Mega, that's much like a Loblaws at home.  It has everything in it.  Food, some clothes, books, pharmaceuticals, housewares, and even some large appliances!  It's location and look make it very popular with cruise ship passengers. I don't go there much because they don't accept my Canadian Visa credit card.  Really!??

I tend to shop at one of the more "local" grocery stores.  The Chedraui.  It's the closest to my apartment.  It has food, pharmaceuticals, clothes, and some appliances too.  It's more like a Food Basics in look and feel.  There has been a leak in the roof over produce area for the last 4 years.  But  they accept my credit card.  The staff is mostly very nice.  And there's a dude who watches over bicycles and scooters that park there.  Kinda like valet parking!  For about 25 cents!

I love to ride or walk around and look at all the smaller specialty shops. Some sell pretty much one type of thing fruit, fish, or chicken.  There hardware and stationary stores. Bakeries that smell delicious but mostly bake goods that are too dry/tasteless for me (phewph!) And some very pretty flower shops.

But some of my favourites to snoop around in are the "bazaars", which sell used clothes.  Today, I found a pretty summer top and green plaid flannel shirt.  For about $6 total.  About two weeks ago, I bought a skirt and t-shirt that have become my favourite for wearing to the beach!!!

Pictures
1) A candy and cake store with a fun look
2) One of the prettier fruit and veggy stores, way back in the hood
3) One the super cute  tiny hardware stores.  Kinda walk-in closet size!
4) Looking towards the produce / meat sections in Chedraui.  It mostly looks like home, except for the cactus leaves, mountains of papaya and avocadoes, and steak and fish on ice, but totally accessible to hands and sneezes.  I haven't bought an meat that's been displayed like this....
5 - 6) The skirt and t-shirt I bought, and the bazaar i bought them at.  How fun to find some new favourites like this!!
