I got my bike tuned up!

Did I mention that I love my bicycle?  I definitely do!

My main mission today was to give my bicycle some love.  I set out early-ish in the morning to find the shop that installed the basket on my bike last year.  There are several places that fix bicycles.  But I like this one best because they agreed to try install my basket last year, and did a great job of it, even though it took a fair bit of effort. All the other shops I went to just said "no".  They didn't even want to try install one.  I suppose that's fair.  It's not like other bicycles here.

My bicycle is an old folding bike, originally from Czechoslovakia.  I bought it in Ottawa two years ago from a student who finds/buys old bikes, and fixes them up to resell and earn income.  He did a great job of it!  My bike weighs a tonne! It has no gears, which is good because they'd only rust here with the salty air. But it's robust, has brake levers and it pretty much only goes slow.  Which are good things.  They help keep me safe.

As usual, the shop was busy and chaotic, by our standards.  But my tires are now well inflated, my chain is clean and has new oil, I have a new bell, and my brakes passed inspection. Yay!  I'm good for a new "season".  The only down side to this bicycle thing in Mexico?  I get bicycle bum twice per year! (You know, ouch!  After the first ride....)

Bottom - Walking on the sidewalk is always an adventure.  Today, I tripped on the little ledge you can see in the picture.  I managed to stay on my feet.  But that's three "near" misses in three days.  Are we done now?!
