I made it safely to Cozumel! In record time!
The last two years, my travels to Cozumel were filled with lots of "misadventure". In 2014, my departure from Ottawa was delayed by 3 days because of snow. In 2015, the water pipes on the airplane were frozen, so our departure from Ottawa was 4 hours late, so I only arrived in Cozumel at midnight, very tired and seasick.
Today, the weather was totally cooperative. +7C! So the plane took off exactly on time. Which got me into Cancun before noon. So I easily took the ADO (like Greyhound) bus from the airport to Playa Del Carmen, then a ferry to Cozumel by 3pm. And best of all!!!! The ocean was super calm and I thoroughly enjoyed the ferry crossing. No sea sickness at all!!! Some of you may recall I wasn't so lucky last year...
Also very neat. On the ferry, I chatted with a local named Raul who'd like me to give him English lessons. I think I'd like that. It could be a neat experience and give me a bit of income while here. But first, I want to check with Barbara, my friend and owner of the Spanish English Academy (SEA), to make sure I'm not stepping over any boundaries.
I got to Cozumel early enough to walk downtown and have dinner in a small fun restaurant called "Mar y Juana". It was noisy with fun music and football fans cheering, and it was a little crazy with the waiter getting all the patrons, including me, to do a fizzy tequila shot. But it was a fun way to get into vacation/adventure mode!
