I did several "firsts" for this year. The highlight was definitely my first swim for this year!
I decided to try switching my usual routine a bit. In years past, I spent the morning around the "house" studying Spanish or painting, and the afternoons by the water. Today, I went straight for the water after breakfast. Most often, the wind is calmer in the morning than in the afternoon. Which means the waves on the ocean, my wonderful oversized swimming pool! are smaller in the morning than the afternoon.
It was a great decision! My swim was awesome! The water was calm and super zen! Except my entry into the water. Today, I went to Hotel Cozumel's "beach club". It's a short walk from my house and has a nice sheltered "bay" that you can enter, before venturing out to the open ocean. The "bay" is surrounded by stairs like an amphitheatre, and has a ladder. You can use either to get into the water. Since there was someone on the ladder, I used the amphitheater stairs. Big mistake! I didn't notice all the algae on the stairs. I slipped and flipped and ended up in the water. Luckily unhurt except for a small scrape on my hand. But it could have been very different. Big lesson learned, dumb dumb!
In the afternoon, I introduced Joan to Billy's BBQ. It was sooooo good! And this evening, I went for my first bicycle ride downtown. Did I mention that I love having my bicycle?!!!
